LAGUNA IN LATE SUMMER - WORKS ON PAPER

Artist Statement

This series of small artworks 10” x 7 1/2” on 15” x 11”, on heavy weight mixed media paper, using acrylic and drawing materials, is an exploration of feelings and sensations of the protected watershed lands between Santa Rosa and Sebastopol, Ca., at the end of summer through the fall of 2020.  I worked with the natural energies and color palette which are striking during this time of year. It is a place I walk frequently…..and during COVID a place to feel peace and beauty.

The Santa Rosa Laguna is a wild and free sanctuary for birds and wildlife amidst towns and traffic of modern human life. It captures the fragility and resilience of life that expresses itself tenaciously. My art attempts to capture this blend of hardiness and vulnerability.

The paintings in this series come unframed. If you see an image you wish to purchase you can click on that image and it will take you directly to purchasing that image or you can click on the Purchase button below and it will take you to all images that are available for purchase.
